"Summary?"
- Treat people as individuals. Hire based purely on merit; ignore race, sex, sexual orientation, etc. You know, the Martin Luther King's thing: judge someone by content of character rather than color of skin. (Note that this is what progressives believed right up until five minutes ago.)
- **Stop believing bullshit oppression narratives.* You've been told that Western culture oppresses black people or women or gay people. The stats don't back that up. (Citation needed, but whatever.)
- There are real differences between cultures. And in many ways Western culture is actually pretty great. It's worth preserving and fighting for. (Doesn't mean other cultures aren't good too.) Some immigration is good; too much immigration can damage a country's culture, if it happens in such a high volume that the immigrants don't assimilate.
- There are real differences between men and women. Obviously.
- There are real differences between races. I feel uneasy saying this. I don't like having to say it. Label it "racist" if you want. But AFAICT the science backs it up. In any case, plenty of unwoke people don't believe this particular point; e.g. I used to believe that the differences in outcomes between races were primarily/completely due to culture, not race. But I think the evidence does show that there are racial differences in IQ (and other stuff too), so it's worth mentioning as another reason why it's silly to look at differences in outcomes and attribute them to bigotry.
- Proposed climate-change "solutions" are expensive and won't work. Whatever you think about how real and how important climate change is, the wokes' current proposed policies ("degrowth"? wind and solar power but not nuclear?) are not any sort of answer. They're either too small to make any difference, or won't make any difference if China and India and the developing world aren't on board (which isn't going to happen - they aren't going to say "well, the West made itself rich by burning fossil fuels, but we'll stay poor because climate change").
"A bunch of that is bullshit."
I'm just telling you that this is stuff that a lot of us honestly believe.
If I ever get around to it, I'll put in some links to back up those claims. But my point is that what's going on here isn't "the anti-woke bigots don't want to correct the horrible injustices in our society," this is "perfectly normal decent people are tired of the wokes turning our society upside-down to correct so-called problems that don't actually exist."
Even if we're wrong about this stuff, notice that these are questions of fact. Maybe we're incorrect, but we're not evil. (And I don't think we're incorrect.)
